My approach to horses, riding, teaching and life in general is to embrace conscious actions and the bigger picture. To me, success with the horse does not come by accident. It takes hard work, dedication and community involvement.
I have a long and varied background with horses, from breeding to working with breed registries, buying and selling, marketing, showing/competing, educating and training. I have also had the opportunity to work with a number of trainers in various disciplines, yet I wholeheartedly embrace the concepts of French Classical Dressage which aim for balance and lightness at all times.
Despite all of the hats I have worn over the years, the most satisfying for me is when I am teaching. There is an amazing amount of learning that goes on during the teaching process on both sides of the coin – for that of student and instructor – coupled with the community inherent in any teaching environment. It is a place where I am free to continue discovering while also helping other equestrians do the same.
Awareness In Riding is the learning environment I have established to encourage this kind of global discovery with the horse. Based on the sound principles of lightness and balance combined with critical thinking it is the sort of haven custom made for the equestrian searching for education – not merely a pony ride.
I invite you to stop in, participate, begin your discovery!
